Studied at ELTE Budapest – history, sociology, anthropology – graduated in 1992.
Participated in the Atelier Doctoral School, ELTE, between 1992–96.

- NIAS, Magyar Fellow, Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study, Wassenaar, 1997
- Junior Fellow, Collegium Budapest, Institute for Advanced Study, 1999/2000
- British Academy, Visiting Fellow, Warburg Institute, London, 2001
PhD defended in 2000 at ELTE, from then on Assistant Professor at CEU's Department of Medieval Studies.
